Itinerary

Arrive at Islamabad International Airport where our representative will greet you. After hotel transfer, the day is free for rest and recovery from your journey. Later, join the group briefing to discuss the trek and meet your fellow travelers. Depending on time, enjoy an optional city tour of Islamabad—Pakistan’s modern capital, planned in 1961 and set against the green Margalla Hills. Evening brings a shared dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable hotel, preparing you for the adventure into the Karakoram.

Board a short but breathtaking flight to Skardu (weather permitting). The 45-minute journey offers views of the Himalayas and Karakoram, with glimpses of Nanga Parbat and possibly K2 on clear days. After arrival, settle into your hotel before exploring Skardu’s bazaars, forts, and scenic lakes. Visit the 8th-century Manthal Buddha Rock—a remarkable trace of the region’s Buddhist past. If flights are canceled due to weather, travel by road on the Karakoram Highway to Chilas, an adventurous 8–9-hour drive.

Spend a full day exploring Skardu, the lively capital of Baltistan. Wander its bustling bazaars, visit the historic Skardu Fort, and admire sweeping views of the valley. Optional excursions include the tranquil Shangrila Resort (Lower Kachura Lake), Upper Kachura Lake, or Sheosar Lake, each offering pristine beauty. Discover the Manthal Buddha Rock and learn about the cultural layers that shaped the region before Islam. This buffer day also provides flexibility in case of travel delays.

Embark on a stunning drive beside the Indus and Shyok Rivers to Khaplu, a charming Balti town. Along the way, enjoy dramatic river views and mountain backdrops. On arrival, explore the restored Khaplu Palace—once a royal residence—and the historic Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest in the region. With its green fields, traditional villages, and backdrop of towering peaks, Khaplu introduces you to the cultural and natural richness of Baltistan. Overnight in a local lodge surrounded by mountain serenity.

Drive to Kanday village, the gateway to your trek. From here, set out on a 2-hour hike to Mingulu Broq, a tranquil meadow framed by snowcapped peaks. The trail passes shepherd huts, grazing fields, and rustic wooden bridges crossing mountain streams. The ascent brings both adventure and serenity, with plenty of time to enjoy the landscape. Arrive at Mingulu Broq to set up camp in a scenic meadow, enjoying a hot dinner and your first night under the Karakoram stars.

Continue your adventure with a 3-hour trek from Mingulu Broq to Nangma Valley Basecamp at 3,900m. The trail ascends steadily, opening up to breathtaking views of towering granite spires. From camp, admire the dramatic Great Tower, Grey Tower, Changi Tower, and the majestic King and Son Peaks. Surrounded by glaciers and alpine silence, this basecamp offers one of the most stunning natural amphitheaters in the Karakoram. Spend the evening exploring the area before resting in your tent under a starry sky.

Today’s hike leads to Amin Braq Basecamp, offering panoramic views of soaring peaks and alpine meadows. From here, marvel at Amin Braq, Drefekhar, Kodra, and Brak Zang Peaks, along with the lesser-known Nawaz Braq. After exploring and photographing the scenery, descend back to Nangma Valley Basecamp for another night surrounded by granite walls and pristine wilderness. This rewarding round-trip trek immerses you in the valley’s full beauty while keeping your camp base secure and comfortable.

Begin the descent from Nangma Valley Basecamp to Kanday village. The 3-hour trek follows alpine paths and meadows, passing shepherds and grazing flocks along the way. Arrive back in Kanday and settle into a simple guesthouse or camping setup. This evening offers a chance to experience Balti village hospitality firsthand, sharing meals and stories with locals who live in the shadow of the Karakoram giants.

Bid farewell to your trekking crew and porters as you board jeeps for the return journey. Drive through Khaplu Valley and continue along the Shyok and Indus Rivers toward Skardu. Arrive in the Balti capital by evening and check into your hotel. After days in the wilderness, a hot shower and a comfortable bed feel especially rewarding. The evening is free to relax or take a short walk in town before a group dinner.

Take a morning transfer to Skardu Airport for the scenic flight back to Islamabad. Once again, enjoy aerial views of Nanga Parbat and the Himalayan-Karakoram ranges. After arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the comforts of the city. The afternoon is free for independent exploration—whether shopping for Afghan carpets, visiting museums, or relaxing at the hotel. End the day with a celebratory group dinner. If flights are canceled, the group will travel by road via Chilas.

This buffer day ensures flexibility for weather-related delays. If you have already arrived in Islamabad, spend the day sightseeing in the capital. Options include visiting Faisal Mosque, Lok Virsa Museum, or a drive into the Margalla Hills for panoramic views. In the evening, enjoy a farewell group dinner, celebrating the journey from city to wilderness and back. If driving from Skardu, arrive late afternoon.

After breakfast, transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your onward flight. Reflect on your incredible journey—from the modern avenues of Islamabad to the granite towers of Nangma Valley, and from Balti villages to alpine meadows. With unforgettable memories of mountains, culture, and camaraderie, you depart Pakistan with stories etched deep in your adventure log.
