Itinerary

Your journey begins from Islamabad, driving through the scenic hill town of Bhurban before crossing the Kohala Bridge into Azad Kashmir. The road winds through pine-clad hills and charming mountain villages, offering your first taste of Kashmir’s beauty. Arrive in Dhirkot, a tranquil hill station surrounded by deodar forests. Spend the evening exploring local viewpoints or relaxing in the crisp mountain air as the sun sets over the hills.

After breakfast, embark on a day trip to Lasdana, a picturesque meadow offering sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. The drive passes through lush pine forests and small Kashmiri hamlets. Enjoy a leisurely picnic or short walk among the meadows before returning to Dhirkot in the evening for another peaceful night amidst nature.

Depart Dhirkot early and head toward Ganga Choti, one of Kashmir’s most famous peaks. A short trek rewards you with breathtaking 360° views of the Pir Panjal Range. After descending, continue the journey to Abbaspur, a quiet border town known for its panoramic vistas and peaceful atmosphere. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy the evening at leisure.

After breakfast, drive toward Muzaffarabad, stopping for a detour to Pir Chinasi, a sacred shrine perched high above the city. The viewpoint offers spectacular views of Muzaffarabad and the Neelum Valley below. Continue downhill into Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, and explore its vibrant bazaars or riverside promenade before resting for the night.

An early departure takes you along the enchanting Neelum Valley Road, passing through Keran, Sharda, and Kel, each offering postcard-perfect views of the Neelum River. From Kel, begin the short trek or optional cable car ride to Arang Kel, a fairy-tale village perched on a green plateau above the valley. Settle into your mountain lodge surrounded by cedar trees and alpine scenery.

Spend a full day unwinding in Arang Kel, often called “Heaven on Earth.” Enjoy a slow morning with views of snow-dusted peaks, then explore nearby trails or interact with friendly locals. Photography enthusiasts will love capturing the wooden homes and pastoral landscapes. End the day with tea by the fire as stars fill the mountain sky.

After breakfast, return to Kel and drive deeper into Neelum Valley toward Taobat, the last village near the Line of Control. Wooden cottages nestled along the river offer a peaceful retreat. Enjoy a riverside walk, interact with local villagers, or simply take in the serenity of this remote and unspoiled landscape.

Depart Taobat and drive back to Sharda, an ancient center of learning in the Gandhara era. Visit Sharda Peeth, the ruins of a historic temple and monastery dedicated to the goddess Saraswati. After exploring, relax by the river or visit the local bazaar before settling in for the night.

After breakfast, begin the return journey toward Muzaffarabad, stopping at Upper Neelum Village for stunning panoramic views and a taste of local Kashmiri life. Continue to Kundal Shahi Waterfall, a beautiful cascade surrounded by pine-covered hills. Arrive in Muzaffarabad by evening for a restful night in the valley’s capital.

Conclude your Kashmir adventure with a scenic drive back to Islamabad, stopping at Patriata (New Murree) for a chairlift and cable car ride through the lush Murree hills. Enjoy the cool breeze and forest views before descending to Islamabad. Upon arrival, bid farewell to the mountains and continue to the airport or your onward destination with unforgettable memories of Kashmir’s natural and cultural splendor.
