Your expedition begins with a breathtaking flight over the mighty Karakoram Range to Skardu, surrounded by towering peaks and frozen rivers. Upon arrival, drive north towards Gilgit, the ancient crossroads of the Silk Route. The winter landscapes along the Indus River set the tone for the adventure ahead. Settle into Gilgit for the night, preparing gear and acclimatizing for the mountain journey to come.

After breakfast, depart for Raikot Bridge, where the terrain transitions from rugged valleys to the lower Himalayan slopes. Transfer to local jeeps for a thrilling off-road ascent to Tattu Village, the gateway to Fairy Meadows. From here, begin the snow trek through pine forests, with every turn revealing glimpses of Nanga Parbat’s icy mass. Reach Fairy Meadows, transformed into a silent, white wonderland in winter. Overnight stay in heated wooden cabins surrounded by snow.

Spend the day exploring Fairy Meadows, one of the world’s most scenic alpine plateaus. The snow-covered landscape, reflecting the golden hues of morning and evening light, offers unmatched photography opportunities. Learn winter survival techniques — from layering for cold to snow navigation. Spend the afternoon wandering the meadow’s edges or relaxing beside a fire, soaking in views of Nanga Parbat’s immense north face.

Set out early for a challenging trek to Nanga Parbat Basecamp (4,200m). The route crosses frozen streams and snowfields as the mountain looms ever closer, its sheer Rupal face dominating the horizon. Standing at basecamp, surrounded by glacial silence, is an unforgettable moment of triumph. After taking in the views and documenting the experience, trek back to Fairy Meadows by evening for a well-earned rest beside a warm fire.

After breakfast, descend from Fairy Meadows to Tattu Village, where jeeps await for the descent to Raikot Bridge. The drive continues to Skardu, retracing part of the Indus River route through winter valleys and frozen ridges. The journey offers time to reflect on the achievement — the successful winter approach to one of the world’s most formidable peaks.

In the morning, take a scenic flight from Skardu back to Islamabad, with sweeping aerial views of snow-covered ranges including Nanga Parbat, Rakaposhi, and the Karakoram giants. Upon arrival, the expedition concludes — marking the end of a truly exceptional winter survival journey through Pakistan’s high mountains.
