Itinerary

Begin your adventure with a scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu, offering breathtaking aerial views of Nanga Parbat and the Karakoram Range. Upon arrival, drive to the enchanting Shigar Valley, known for its orchards, stone houses, and rich Balti culture. Enjoy lunch at the historic Shigar Fort, a 17th-century heritage lodge restored by the Aga Khan Trust. Later, visit the Amburiq Mosque, one of the oldest wooden mosques in Baltistan, showcasing Tibetan-Islamic architectural influences. Evening at leisure amidst mountain serenity. Overnight stay in Shigar.

After breakfast, embark on a thrilling 4x4 journey to Deosai National Park, a vast alpine plateau at 4,000 meters above sea level. Known for its rolling meadows, glacial streams, and snow-fed lakes, Deosai is home to a thriving ecosystem of rare wildlife. Stop at Sheosar Lake, a crystal-clear alpine lake surrounded by snow peaks, before continuing to Bara Pani. Enjoy your first evening of photography amid golden light and wide-open wilderness. Overnight glamping experience under the starlit skies of Deosai.

Rise early for a full-day wildlife expedition with an expert Himalayan wildlife guide to Bari La, a prime region for observing the Himalayan Brown Bear. Once critically endangered, these magnificent animals are now protected within Deosai’s vast landscape. Learn about their habits, feeding patterns, and the history of conservation efforts that revived their population. Capture stunning photographs of bears, marmots, and other species against the backdrop of wildflower-covered plains. Return to Bara Pani by evening. Overnight stay at Deosai glamps.

Spend another day immersed in the untamed beauty of Deosai. The vast plains, dotted with wildflowers and glacial streams, provide endless opportunities for landscape and wildlife photography. Capture the Himalayan Brown Bear in different light conditions, observe golden marmots, and spot migratory birds soaring across the high-altitude skies. Your guide will take you to less-traveled areas to ensure the best vantage points for photography. Enjoy an evening bonfire and storytelling under the stars. Overnight at Bara Pani glamps.

Continue exploring Deosai’s remote corners, focusing on capturing unique species such as Tibetan wolves, ibex, and Himalayan griffons. Visit serene alpine meadows and lesser-known lakes that reflect the snow-capped peaks above. This final day on the plateau allows you to refine your photography techniques and experience the tranquility of nature at its purest. Return to Bara Pani by evening for your last night in the wilderness. Overnight glamping stay.

After breakfast, drive back to Skardu, descending through winding valleys and changing landscapes. In the afternoon, explore Chunda Valley, known for its terraced fields and sweeping mountain vistas, followed by a visit to Soq Valley, a hidden gem of Skardu. Spend your evening relaxing at a comfortable resort, reflecting on your expedition and reviewing your wildlife captures. Overnight stay in Skardu.

After breakfast, transfer to Skardu Airport for your return flight to Islamabad, marking the end of your Himalayan Brown Bear & Wildlife Photography Expedition. With your camera filled with breathtaking memories of Deosai’s rare wildlife and pristine wilderness, you depart with a deeper appreciation of Pakistan’s natural treasures.
